BIO:
Award-winning photographer and director Indrani Pal-Chaudhuri is internationally known for her iconic imagery, “At the forefront of contemporary photography.” (NOWNESS 2010)

Born in Calcutta, India, from a young age Indrani travelled the world to learn from great photographers as a fashion model, and study philosophy in monasteries along the way. She co-founded and continues to co-direct an empowerment education charitable foundation in her home in India SEEschool.org. Indrani developed her photography career while earning an a AB in Anthropology magna cum laude (high honors) from Princeton University.

Indrani’s unusual early experiences shaped her aesthetic “powerful dream vision…opulent, beatific…unforgettable”(The Masters). vision and “formidable” work ethic (The Big Picture).

Starting out as a still photographer, in partnership with former harp soloist Markus Klinko, the duo soon became known as “Two of photography’s biggest talents.”(American Photo, 2009). Indrani’s work was discovered by David Bowie and fashion icon Isabella Blow, who commissioned her first album cover and magazine cover, and she soon became in demand from the most prestigious clients worldwide. Having honed her craft in fashion and beauty photography, Indrani then focused her unique vision on the commercial and film world. Her advertising accounts include: Lancome, Elizabeth Arden, L’Oreal Paris, Shiseido, Pantene, Head & Shoulders, Herbal Essences, Remy Martin, Mumm Champagne, Sky Blue, Lolita Lempika, Titanium Explorer, Baume et Mercier, Barneys, LVMH, Hugo Boss, Wolford, Nike and Pepsi.

The list of celebrities who have been captured by Indrani’s lens is a veritable Who’s Who of popular culture: Lady Gaga, Beyonce Knowles, Anne Hathaway, Kate Winslet, Eva Mendes, Katie Holmes, Diane Kruger, Jennifer Lopez, Fergie, Britney Spears, Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keys, Janet Jackson, Heidi Klum, Naomi Campbell, Iman, Keanu Reeves, Ryan Seacrest, Will Smith, Jay-Z, Usher, Kanye West, David Bowie, Val Kilmer, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Jaden and Willow Smith and the list goes on.

Her work has been published in Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone, Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, The New York Times, The London Times Magazine, Interview, People and Time, among others, in over 20 books and 20 exhibitions worldwide. Her forthcoming book, Image Craft, is published by Harper One.

Currently Indrani’s films and photography are featured in the Museum of the Fashion Institute’s “Daphne Guinness Exhibition,” (September through January 2012) previews of the upcoming film written and directed by Indrani, The Legend of Lady White Snake: A Tribute to Alexander McQueen inspired by an ancient Chinese tale of obsession and metamorphosis.

Of her many awards, Indrani is most proud of two Gold Lions at Cannes 2011 for Keep A Child Alive/TBWA, for her controversial images against AIDS in Africa and India, which raised much awareness and over a million dollars in less than a week.

Indrani and her team are the subject of a Bravo (NBC) docu-series Double Exposure, which she created and co-produced, and which is currently airing in over 100 countries.
